"How is this called in English?"
should be....
"What is this called in English?" or "What do you call this in English?"
This has to be one of the most common mistakes I hear. If you translate directly from your language into English, it might translate as "How is this called?"
English seems to be basically the only language where we use use "what" instead of "how". Sorry!
You might also get mixed up with "How do you say this in English?"
